Manager's Memo

Manager’s Memo - for the week ending June 6, 2008

Annual Conference Moves to New Venue: The St. Charles Convention Center will be the venue of the 2008 annual MTIA gathering August 10 through 13. St. Charles, the oldest city on the Missouri River and the first state capitol of Missouri, is well known for the cobblestone streets of its historic downtown and is nearby to a number of family-friendly attractions in metro St. Louis. For complete registration materials, including a reservation link to the Embassy Suites conference hotel, visit us at www.mtia.org

Conference Presentation Online: A presentation on the regulatory impact of HB 1779 from MTIA's just-concluded conference is now available online. The presentation by PSC Commissioner Terry Jarrett, The Challenge Ahead: A Policymaker's View, can be downloaded at http://www.psc.mo.gov/the-commissioners/terry-jarrett.

Kiesling Exec Running for NECA Board: Roger Jones, a long-time partner in the Des Moines, Iowa accounting firm of Kiesling Associates LLP, is a candidate for an outside director position on the NECA board. Jones has been with the firm since he received his BA in accounting from the University of Wisconsin in 1963. He has specialized in telephone finance and regulatory matters, and has given expert testimony before several state public service commissions on various regulatory issues. The election ballots will be distributed by NECA in September.

New Vacation Destination -- Telephone Museums: Now that the summer vacation season has arrived, you are probably asking yourself "Just how many telephone museums are there in the U.S., and how can I find them?" Thanks to David Rosenthal, president of KTIA, you now have a handy listing of them all available online. David's recently compiled listing, which includes Missouri’s own museum in Blackwater, is available at http://www.mtia.org/pdf/telephone_museums_in_us.pdf Back to Current Manager's Memo
